Pipedream Salesforce steps in n8n
Updated 2026-10-21 · 3 min read · n8n: Salesforce (Native n8n node)
Salesforce workflows in Pipedream are CRM plumbing: a web form creates a lead, a closed opportunity notifies finance, a case update goes to Slack. n8n's native Salesforce node and Salesforce Trigger cover the standard objects, custom objects and SOQL, so most of these move without HTTP Request nodes.
The n8n side
Salesforce node (n8n-nodes-base.salesforce):
| Resource | Operations (main) |
|---|---|
| Account, Contact, Lead, Opportunity | Create, Create or Update (upsert), Get, Get All, Get Summary, Update, Delete, Add Note |
| Case | Create, Get, Get All, Get Summary, Update, Delete, Add Comment |
| Task | Create, Get, Get All, Get Summary, Update, Delete |
| Contact, Lead | Add to Campaign |
| Custom Object | Create, Create or Update, Get, Get All, Update, Delete |
| Attachment | Create, Get, Get All, Update, Delete |
| Document | Upload |
| Flow | Get All, Invoke |
| Search | Query (SOQL) |
| User | Get, Get All |
Custom fields go under Additional Fields (Custom Fields).
Salesforce Trigger: On Account, Attachment, Case, Contact, Custom Object, Lead, Opportunity, Task or User Created / Updated.

Salesforce actions are not in the converter's automatic list; each arrives as a placeholder with the object type and field values, which makes filling the Salesforce node straightforward.
Credentials
n8n supports OAuth2 and JWT:
- In Salesforce Setup, create an External Client App (n8n recommends it for new integrations; existing connected apps keep working) with OAuth enabled and n8n's callback URL.
- Scopes: API access and refresh token (offline access).
- In n8n choose Production or Sandbox in the credential.
- For JWT, upload a certificate to the app and use the private key in n8n.
n8n's docs note that the "Approve Connected Apps for Non-Admins" permission sits on the connecting user's profile and is off by default, even for admin profiles; enable it if the OAuth connection is refused.
Typical migration: web lead to Salesforce and Slack
Pipedream: HTTP trigger (form) → Create Lead → Slack Send Message.
n8n: Webhook → Code (trigger) → Salesforce → Lead → Create (map Company, LastName, Email, LeadSource) → HTTP Request (Slack, converted automatically).
Pitfalls
- API limits. Salesforce enforces a daily API request allocation per org, shared by every integration. A polling trigger plus a few loops adds up; check usage in Setup → System Overview after the switch.
- Required fields. Lead needs LastName and Company; Opportunity needs Name, StageName and CloseDate. Pipedream's form showed them; in n8n they are separate fields.
- Picklists. Values must match exactly, including case.
- Sandbox vs production. The credential is bound to one; create two credentials if you test in a sandbox.
- Record IDs. Keep 18-character IDs; 15-character IDs are case-sensitive and break in case-insensitive comparisons.
How to move your Salesforce workflows
- Export the workflows from Pipedream.
- Upload on /convert; the free report lists the Salesforce steps with their fields.
- Download the n8n JSON: 1 workflow is free; full export: $3 per workflow, $19 minimum — coming soon.

FAQ
- What does n8n's Salesforce node cover?
- Accounts, attachments, cases, contacts, custom objects, documents, flows, leads, opportunities, tasks and users, plus SOQL search. Most objects support create, upsert, get, get all, update and delete.
- Is there a Salesforce trigger in n8n?
- Yes, the Salesforce Trigger fires when an Account, Attachment, Case, Contact, Custom Object, Lead, Opportunity, Task or User is created or updated.
- Which credential should I use?
- OAuth2 or JWT. Both ask whether the org is Production or Sandbox. You need your own connected app (or External Client App) in Salesforce.
- Do Salesforce steps convert automatically?
- Not yet. Salesforce actions arrive as marked placeholders with their props; most become one Salesforce node. Code steps using jsforce convert to Code nodes with the package listed.
