Pipedream Zoom steps in n8n

Updated 2026-10-21 · 2 min read · n8n: Zoom (Native n8n node)

Zoom workflows on Pipedream do two things: create meetings when something is booked, and process recordings or transcripts when a meeting ends (often with an LLM summary). n8n's native Zoom node handles meetings; recordings and events go through HTTP Request and webhooks.

The n8n side

Zoom node (n8n-nodes-base.zoom), resource Meeting:

  • Create (topic, start time, duration, timezone, password, settings)
  • Delete
  • Get
  • Get Many
  • Update

There is no Zoom trigger node and no recording, registrant or webhook resource in the node.

What maps where

Pipedream (app zoom) In n8n Status
Create Meeting Meeting → Create manual
Update Meeting, Delete Meeting Meeting → Update / Delete manual
List Meetings, Get Meeting Details Meeting → Get Many / Get manual
Add Meeting Registrant HTTP Request → POST /meetings/{id}/registrants manual
List All Recordings HTTP Request → GET /users/me/recordings manual
Get Meeting Transcript HTTP Request → recordings endpoint, then download the transcript file manual
Meeting Started (Instant), Meeting Ended (Instant) Zoom event subscription → n8n Webhook manual
Recording Completed (Instant), New Recording Transcript Completed (Instant) Zoom event subscription → n8n Webhook manual

Zoom is not in the converter's mapped list. Each step is a placeholder with its props (topic, start time, meeting ID) in a comment; the report lists the Zoom OAuth2 credential.

Zoom credentials in n8n

Zoom OAuth2: in the Zoom App Marketplace create a General app (user-managed), add n8n's redirect URL, add scopes meeting:read and meeting:write (plus recording scopes if you call those endpoints). The account must be owner, admin or have the Zoom for developers role. The older JWT credential still appears in n8n but cannot be used for new apps.

Webhooks for Instant events

  1. Add a Webhook node (POST) and activate the workflow.
  2. In the Zoom app → Features → Event Subscriptions, add the production URL and pick events (meeting.ended, recording.completed…).
  3. Zoom validates the URL with an endpoint.url_validation request: respond with the plainToken and its HMAC-SHA256 hash using your secret token (Code node + Respond to Webhook).

Typical migration: recording to summary

Pipedream: Zoom Recording Completed (Instant) → download transcript → OpenAI Chat → Notion create page. n8n: Webhook (recording.completed) → HTTP Request (transcript download_url with the event's download_token) → OpenAI → Notion → Database Page → Create.

Zoom migration pitfalls

  • Rate limits by plan. Light APIs: 4, 30 or 80 requests per second on Free, Pro and Business+. Meeting create/update is capped at 100 requests per day per user. A bulk scheduler loop can hit the daily cap.
  • URL validation. Without the challenge response Zoom does not save the subscription.
  • Time zones. Start times without a timezone are read in the user's Zoom timezone.

How to move your Zoom workflows

  1. Export from Pipedream.
  2. Upload on /convert; the free report lists every Zoom step and its props.
  3. Get the n8n JSON: 1 workflow is free; full export: $3 per workflow, $19 minimum — coming soon.

FAQ

Does n8n have a Zoom trigger?
No. Pipedream's Instant sources (Meeting Started, Meeting Ended, Recording Completed and others) become a Zoom app event subscription pointed at an n8n Webhook node.
What can the n8n Zoom node do?
The Meeting resource: Create, Delete, Get, Get Many and Update. Registrants, recordings, transcripts and webinars need HTTP Request with the Zoom credential.
Can I still use a JWT credential?
No. Zoom retired JWT apps in 2023 (final cutoff 1 September 2023). Create an OAuth2 credential with a user-managed app and the meeting:read and meeting:write scopes.
Do Zoom steps convert automatically?
No. They arrive as placeholders with their props, and the report lists the Zoom OAuth2 credential to create.
